How you can be "green" and energy efficient with Berry Door & Window
At Berry Door & Window, we care about our environment and the quality of living for future generations. That's why we are proud to carry products that meet energy efficient standards and are environmentally friendly.
With energy and natural gas prices on the rise, now's the perfect time to invest in energy efficient windows. Windows with low-e and argon gas not only qualify for a $200 tax credit, it is estimated that you can save up to 35% in energy savings.
Low E glass works by reflecting heat, UV light, and infrared (IR) light back to its source. This energy efficient feature works to keep the heat in during the winter and the heat out during the summer thus decreasing both your heating and air-conditioning costs.
In regards to garage doors, our Ankmar Collection offers an Environmentally friendly option. This line of CladPanel doors look, feel and even sound like real wood, because they are made of wood. Ankmar recycles unused Douglas Fir from mills and fuses it with paper using wax and exterior grade resin to form a hard-working homogenous panel called a CladPanel. Specifically formulated to resist moisture, these doors actually outperform wood in tests of weather and time. They won't split, warp or crack like convential wood doors, and they won't dent or bend like steel doors. This line of garage doors contains no ozone damaging chlorofluorocarbons present in some urethane foam products.
Furthermore, our Raynor garage door line has been recognized in the past for their attention to environmental concerns. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded Raynor with their Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award in 2002.
Raynor received the award by installing a fully-automated manufacturing line to produce Raynor Innovations Series residential garage doors using environmentally-friendly hydrocarbon blowing agents instead of ozone-depleting substances. Raynor was one of 27 individuals, organizations, and teams to receive this honor in recognition of exemplary efforts and achievements in protecting stratospheric ozone.

National Fenestration Rating Council
WE'RE CHANGING THE WAY AMERICA SHOPS
FOR WINDOWS, DOORS AND SKYLIGHTS
NFRC is a non-profit organization that administers the only uniform, independent rating and labeling system for the energy performance of windows, doors, skylights, and attachment products. Our goal is to provide fair, accurate, and reliable energy performance ratings so that:
• Architects, builders, code officials, contractors, homeowners, and others can compare different products and make informed product choices.
• Building officials, state government employees, and others involved in code development and enforcement can determine if products meet local codes.
• Government- and utility-run energy efficiency programs can establish performance requirements and standards.
• Manufacturers have a fair and level playing field to compare products and an accurate method of showing the energy benefits of new designs or technology.
